Mad Bastard Scooter RallyMadness!

The Mad Bastard Scooter Rally is like your crazy ex: You'll call it foul names, find yourself caught up with it in situations you'll regret in the morning, and no matter what you do to protect yourself this rally will be a pain in the butt.

For some of us, leather and cruisers just aren’t hardcore enough, and crotch rockets just don’t capture the true essence of riding. We are the few, the strong, the proud. We are the Mad Bastards, and this is our story.

De Biker Boyz BlockoDe Blocko

2011 marked the 8th annual install of De Biker Boyz Blocko. Featuring “thousands” (well, maybe a thousand) of motorcycles, mostly sportbikes, set to the tune of soca, reggae, and dancehall. The Blocko is an annual gathering that coincides with the weekend before Caribana, a celebration of Caribbean culture and North America’s largest street festival right here in Toronto.

MAC Rally of HopeRide Canada

Canada, the world’s second largest country, spans six timezones and thousands of kilometres. From Rockie Mountains to Prairies, Borreal Plains to Mixwood Greenbelt, Ocean to Ocean, who wouldn’t want to cross Canada on a motorcycle? That was the question asked to me by Ian of the MAC Rally of Hope. In 2010 the rally raised $88,000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation. This year the rally has riders travelling across Canada with their sights set on raising over $100,000, all while exploring the great white north on their iron steeds.

Motorcycle Culture & Celebrity BuildersBiker Art

Let's be honest with ourselves and just admit that when it comes to art most of us are clueless. I can admit to that. I walked into Studio Cycle Group and a stack of flyers for a motorcycle photography exhibit called Motorcycle Culture & Celebrity Builders caught my eye. The black and white images on the flyer lived up to the title. Indian Larry and the Americana bike culture were well represented.

Port Dover Friday the 13thPD-13

How do you turn 6,000 into 60,000? Ask residents of Port Dover, Ontario, a small community on the north shore of Lake Erie. Every Friday the 13th Port Dover is filled with over 50,000 motorcyclists. This year marked the 30th anniversary of the event which first began in 1981 to tune of a group of a little over 20 friends having fun while the Rolling Stones sang "Start Me Up" over the radio.

Dad's first ride in 20 years!no cancer

In December of 2009 I found my father unable to make his way up a flight of stairs by himself. He felt weak on one side than the other. We were fearful of a stroke. The hospital assessed him and ordered an emergency CT Scan and MRI. This was no stroke. They said they found something “deep within the brain”.

HD TorontoHD Toronto

While companies like BMW and Honda let you test ride their motorcycles at any time, here in Canada, Harley-Davidson only allows test-riding on specific dates. Having missed the previous week's demo at another dealership, I went to HD TO determined not to miss my chance to ride the humble 883 Sportster, a potential future purchase.
